MARY FROM DUNGLOE FESTIVAL

INTRODUCTION

Mary From Dungloe Festival is a heritage, culture and tradition festival that takes part over 2 weeks in Dungloe, Co. Donegal every year. This project was a re-design project. I worked on this project with the guidance of my lecturer Aeson Chen, who is also a UX design lead at a travel company called Roomex.

THE STAKEHOLDERS

There were two main stakeholders to consider for this project. The organisers of the festival and the attendees of the festival. It was important to look at both sets of neeeds. In order to understand the festival goers needs I created user personas, an empathy map and a journey map. This allowed me to get a good insight into the needs of the festival goers and therefore influenced my final design.

THE ORIGINAL WEBSITE

Along with being a re-branding project this was also a re-design project. The original website was quite dated and had a unviting colour scheme that could be potentially off-puting to some users (as seen below).




THE PROBLEM

At this point in the process I recapped on the problem statement. The first problem I identified was the time it took for the users to find the most important information on the website. It took too long. The second problem was that some critical information was missing from the website (such as the event schedule). And thirdly the website design was too clunky. So these were the issues I considered during the new website design.
